No one really likes traffic jam but sometime, we the taxi drivers do fancy joining the long queue coz the meter will still runs & chances to get extra cash is always appealing! Getting stuck in traffic without a passenger sucks!
To avoid traffic in KL is tricky & really depends on luck. Sometime when you thought the road is clear, 3km away a car broke down and suddenly you'll be stuck for hours! And if it rains, you can bet there's congestion everywhere.
The most common congestions happen during peak hours & if you want to travel without the frequent sudden breaking, either leave early or later.
From my experience, Jalan Tun Razak is always a mess, especially from the US Embassy towards Loke Yew or from IJN towards PWTC. Others would be from Shah Alam's Batu 3 toll heading to PJ (it'll be ok after the Motorola bridge), from Kayu Ara toll heading to PJ (will be ok after the Uptown DU junction) & Puchong. If it rains cat & mouse, heading to Subang Airport will be forever! Trust me. To avoid all these mess, you should really plan your travelling time or take a heli!
There's too many cars on the road eventhough cars don't come cheap in Malaysia. Oh well, till we learn to car pool or till someone can come up with a brilliant idea to avoid the congestions: take a cab when it's jam and make us cabbie happy! I know I would! ;)

Getting Started
Hi. I'm Rudy and I'm a 'teksi' driver.
I drive budget taxi & my cab is in red & white. It's been two months now since I decided to drive taxi and so far, everything seems okay. For the past two months I've been learning taxi's tricks and treats which I wouldn't know if I'm not a driver. Maybe I'm gonna share some but imagining the possibilities of me getting smacked & Wendy sabotaged, I don't dare to tell all. So for "our" sake, I'm gonna keep my plate number anonymous for the time being.
Oh ya... Wendy is my 'teksi'. So far she's been a good girl and I do hope she stays good for a long time. :)
Originally, I was thinking of getting a blue Toyota Innova cab but after asking around, most of my peeps advised me to stick to the normal red & white budget taxi. For their unbiased replies, I thank them! And judging by how I was treated by representatives of a blue cab company (which is officially known as executive taxi), it helped me made my decision. And that's gonna be another entry. :)
To become a taxi driver, one need to get his PSV license first. I got mine from Surefine Driving School in Kg Jawa. I had to forked out RM450 which includes the whole day lecture, JPJ written test, practical classes & on the road test. The seminar was brief though 'officially', you need to spend almost 9 hours listening to the do's & dont's of Malaysia's traffic. My lecturer was understanding enough to know when to stop. A week after, it was the JPJ written test which you need to get at least 44 questions right out of 50. It was a piece of cake. Just read the book your driving school provide as the questions are similar. I aced my test! Hahaha. You'll get the result a day after & if you passed, you can then join the practical classes. Practical classes are held on Thursday & weekends. You'll be doing the cone driving where u get to drive around 8 cones & try your very best to not to knock it and also the on the road driving. After attending 5 classes, then only you can book your test date.
My test was held in Batu 9 Cheras & test are held every Wednesday. The cone test is easy if u just drive carefully. You're given 3 minutes & trust me, 3 minutes is more than enough. For me, the on the road test was a little bit nerve-wrecking cos you have to drive an old Iswara with the JPJ officer by your side. You MUST obey ALL the traffic rules while keeping the old junk's engine running till the finishing line. Phewww... You'll only know your result the next day & if you're not walking back to the finishing line or if it's not the officer who drive back the car or if your IC is still with the officer at the end of the day, there's a good chance that you have passed the test. If you passed, your driving school will get your PSV license done straight away. I was charged RM30 for my license. If I did it myself, it will only cost me RM10. Oh well, I'm a bum! :)
Note: You can also get the 'NO NEED JOIN LECTURE, CLASSES & ALL TESTS GUARANTEED PASS' package for RM800 - RM1300. Don't ask me where coz I did it the old fashioned way. ;)
