Messy Marketing

Two out of 5 taxis in Malaysia will have their rear window pasted with stickers offering transfer to KLIA or LCCT. And with that, the driver's phone number as well. Some will include other destinations, webistes and even karaoke service on board. Wow! I guess it helps but isn't it messy and will only limit your view? Oh well, marketing comes in many ways and we have to respect their efforts.

If I have to paste something on my rear window, it would say "Anywhere your heart desire in Peninsula Malaysia. Just pay me and you'll get there." :)

To date, the only marketing I do would be posting free ads in Mudah.my. Yup. That's my only marketing playground and the responds have been fair. Bookings come unexpectedly and when I need it the most. I'm really grateful for that.

It's been a slow month this Ramadhan and hopefully business will start blooming this Raya season. Or maybe I should just fill all Wendy's window with stickers? Hmmm...

Well, if you can't beat them, join them! Hahaha...

Hello Ramadhan!

Wow! Time do fly. Today marks the 10th day of puasa and in 2 weeks, we'll be celebrating Raya! So far, my puasa exercise has been better than last year. What an achievement! :)

With puasa, comes 'buka puasa' or in a trendier way to call it; 'iftar'. My Arabic sucks. I just gotta know what iftar is 2 years ago. Before that, I only call it buka puasa. For years it has been buka puasa to me but suddenly, it all changes.

With more Arabs coming and residing in Malaysia, more and more Arabic words began to emerge in our daily conversation. I guess it's a good progress but someone should explain should just slot in the meaning in Bahasa so someone like me who's too proud to ask anybody else what it means wouldn't feel left out.

Anyway, me and my school budies will be having our annual 20th buka puasa session this year! Yup! Twentieth! So far it has been at mamak's all the way. We had too as all of our buka puasa sessions had always lasted till the next morning, just right before Sahur!

Yup! Though the things we talked about every buka puasa session have been about the same topics, we still meet up once a year, to bond ourselves in this weird fun-loving brotherhood.

And the challenges we faced every years are always the same - date, location and girls. :)

Eventually we'll solve the date and location but we had yet to solve the girls issue for the past 19 years! Hahaha! Not even once had we get girls to attend our buka puasa session! Oh well, one day there will be girls... I hope! :)

Anyway, wishing everyone a good Ramadhan.

Love.

Rudy's Teksi Begins

Hi. I'm Rudy and I drive a cab. But honestly, I'm a crime fighter. I don't do mask or cape coz it can be annoying. I also don't have the patience to train like other superheroes, so I fight crime on an 'as is' basis. I do have a part in helping make this blessed country a safer place for everyone. Honest!

Every heroes has their costume and mine comes in black and white. As I don't really want to be confused with a lawyer, my costume has been collecting dust in the drawer since day one.

I'm not born heir to an industrialist billionaire but I wish I was one coz it would help a lot. As I'm not, I still have to charge for a ride. Hey... Heroes need to make a living somehow. We don't have allowance from the Government! The best incentive I get as a cabby is free tires! Oklah...

I don't really share my photos online not because I'm camera-shy : I need to protect those who're close to me. I'm not a really a playboy but I do flirt occasionally. Don't get me wrong... When I flirted around, I'm doing it to potray I'm hopeless, harmless and not really a threat to any criminal wannabes. But I have to agree, it's fun... Sometimes. :)

Playing hero is a lonely life. You can't really tell everyone what you did but luckily I have my trusted companion; Wendy to pour my heart out. By the way, Wendy is my red and white cab. She drives me everywhere for my crime fighting activities and help me earn some money. Sometimes the money can be real good but most of the time, it's just enough to sustain our expenses. But a hero needs to do what a hero needs to do right?

I don't have a Mr. Fox to provide me gadgets and tools to play around but I do have Ah Foong, my regular mechanic who gives good services to Wendy at an overpriced charges. But still I'll run to him whenever Wendy feels sluggish coz he knows what he's doing and the fact that he provides credit, make me come for more. :)

So what have I've been doing this past 2 years? Have you heard of the 50 billion Bank Negara's heist last year or the nuclear threat in Tg. Sepat few months ago or the recent brain-eating zombie threat in Sungkai a few weeks back? I don't think so. None made the news. I prefer it that way. Preventing panics and chaos is what we heroes do. Credits? We don't take any. But I swear, if I ever see any snatch theft happening, I'll run over the idiots!

So next time you see me driving like a lunatic, do give way. Please understand that I might be in a rush to save the nation. Or I might be late for a pick up or I need to use the bathroom or I might just being a moron! Sorry in advance. Hehehehe...

That's me - Rudy and his teksi; a hero playing a role of an ordinary decent cabby, trying to save Malaysia, one trip at a time. And yes, I still charge from RM3 per door slam. :)

Thankful in Brickfields

I have never posted anything this early but while I wait for my next pick up, blogging is the most sensible thing to do at the moment. My next pick up will be in 45 minutes... Normally.

Here I am in Brickfields, having nasi lemak, watching people come and go at this stall behind the YMCA building. This part of Brickfields still look familiar. With all the development going on here. Brickfields does look alien. Hopefully this part stays the same.

Brickfields has been an integral part in my growing up process. My early sex experience happened a block away from where I'm sitting now. To my surprise, the brothels are still there, offering cheap sex service mostly to foreign workers. I was young, curious and kinda stupid. But a quickie for RM20 is all I can afford back then. Oh well, that's history. No more! :)

Most of the patrons at this stall are blind people who are regulars and all the workers here know them by name. That's good. I thank God for all the blessings He has bestowed upon me. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

My 45 minutes will end soon and more and more people are coming to the stall. I guess that's my Q to make a move. Bye Brickfields. Will be back soon. For the nasi lemak... Obviously! :)

Homeworks

I'm not a fan of homeworks. Back in school, I do homeworks coz I have to. I know that with more homeworks, I'll improve myself but as a certified bum, homeworks are just plain troublesome. I would rather call in sick than even try to get it done, especially Geography.

I'm not really a fan of geography. All the maps and layers of plains are just a turn off. But as a compulsory subject, I have to attend the classes and surprisingly, my geography results have always been extremely good.

I was thankful when geography was an optional subject in Form 4. No more scales, land layouts, climate change, flags and those tedious stuff.

But geography loves me. The third most used application for me now are GPS and Google Maps and I do have the physical thick book of maps in Malaysia in Wendy's trunk. Today, at 1:47am, I'm flipping trough the pages, referring to Google Maps, trying to find this place called Johan Setia.

Yup, who had guessed a cabby would be doing his homeworks, late at night to make sure the journey tomorrow a smooth one? One thing for sure, I have never guessed it few years back. Such is life.

*sigh*

A Rare Sunday

When I first started driving, I told myself weekend would be exclusive for me. Wont be driving on a weekend, especially on Sunday. But that rarely happened. Most weekend I will still be driving Wendy around and it's tiring.

If given a choice, I would rather spend my weekends lazily at home or somewhere out of KL. But as I have to achieve my target, gone ar all my weekends. Saturdays and Sundays would be another nomal working days. The rewards are sometimes satisfying but in the end, I am just draining myself. And getting home tired means I'll end up in bed in a jiffy with no or minimal contact with other human.

But today was different. For once in a very long time I get to spend my Sunday for me. There was no pick up, bookings or calls from anyone in the industry. Love it! Though by 3pm I was itching to find a passenger, I resisted the temptation and learn to enjoy the quiteness of today.

So this was my Sunday today. Quiet, peaceful and being thankful for a blessed life. Hope your Sunday rocks too! :)

Saturday's Ramblings

Here I am in this dodgy workshop waiting for Wendy to get her oil change, wheel balancing & alignment, break adjustment and disc skimming done. While waiting, I have 2 sweet hours for myself. This new phone of mine really rocks! At least now I can blog straight from my Android.

Come Tuesday, Wendy will be going for another inspection. Can't they just make it once a year? I know it's a good practice but everytime there's an inspection, half of my day will be gone. Puspakom seems to be doing thing slowly which is also good coz it shows thorough inspection is being done but my half day? Oh well, I guess I don't really have a strong ground here to complain. *sigh* I should just take the 'kowtim' package but then, it'll cost me another extra RM100. Might as well I spend it on Wendy.

There's no particular reason why I chose this workshop. Been visiting several now and I guess once you found one that meets your budget, offer acceptable services & convenient, you'll come back.

Anyway, all done here. There goes my money. Making a move now. Hopefully I'll managed to get back my RM245.60. *sigh*
